Sixth Form students invited to CAFOD reception at Speaker House

Areté students had the great privilege to be invited to a CAFOD reception at Speakers House within the grounds of the Houses of Parliament at the end of March, where they met MP’s and other CAFOD supporters and donors during this Jubilee Year.

Diana, Patrick and Sophie heard from various MP’s, including Sir Edward Leigh, Father of the House and Florence Eshalomi, as well as the Speaker himself, Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

They also had the opportunity to listen to CAFOD’s director, Christine Allen, and Bryan, a visitor from Kenya, who works for a partner charity supporting young people into work in Kenya.

It was an inspiring event, where CAFOD encouraged everyone to join in with lobbying for a cancelling of debt to counties most in need in our world.

All students agreed that they came away inspired to do all they can to support the cause.
